“You’re blushing,” she whispered conspiratorially with a huge grin.
“Oh, hush,” Sam laughed, turning her attention back to Hannah. “I am not.”
“You so are.” Sierra sat back down with a bottle of water. “I didn’t realize you knew Elijah Penn.”
Sierra didn’t phrase it as a question, but Sam felt the urge to explain. “I was introduced to him on Monday. He’s the guy I was asking you about. Apparently Logan met him when the boys went to X-hale.” Sam was not going to go into details about how Elijah had watched while Logan had made her scream his name.
“And?”
“And what?”
“What do you think about him? The three of you seemed a little cozy.”
Glancing over at Sierra, Sam decided to spill. “I definitely hope to get to know him better,” she said with a guilty smile. It wasn’t like Sierra didn’t already know that Sam and Logan had been hoping to find a third that would work for them.
“Do you think Elijah might be the one?” Sierra asked, looking both curious and concerned.
“I’m not sure anyone will be ‘the one',” Sam answered softly. “But I think he’s interested. As are we.”
In all the time she’d been with Logan, Sam had learned a lot about herself. A hell of a lot. Some things she learned even surprised her. Like the fact that she really, really enjoyed the threesome interactions. And she craved having two men focused on her, with Logan there to ground her. Those moments were unlike anything she’d ever expected.
“I’m interested in getting to know him better. Seeing where it might lead,” Sam finally told Sierra.
“Do you think this could be the start of a more permanent friendship?” Sierra asked, a hint of empathy in her tone.
Sam knew Sierra had a good reason to ask that question. Along with finding out about her own kinky side, Sam had also learned that she didn’t like the fact that Luke and Tag had both just waltzed right through her life.
Sam loved Logan with every ounce of herself, but she’d made a connection with Luke and then with Tag. It wasn’t the same as what she felt for Logan, but she didn’t like the idea of getting attached to anyone only so they could move on. And by attached, Sam meant that she’d developed feelings for them. Not love, but she feared that was only because of how brief their encounters were.
And maybe that’s why the idea of Elijah scared her a little. Despite the fact that she had really enjoyed his company the other night, not to mention the little show they’d put on for him, she was still weary.
“There’re no guarantees, I know, but I don’t see how it could hurt to see how things go,” Sam told her.
“Well, I won’t argue with you there. So, does that mean you’re going to pursue this further?”
The only thing Sam knew for fact was that she was open to new experiences and there was something about Elijah… Did it mean she would be with him? No. It didn’t. But it also meant she wasn’t going to deny herself the opportunity of getting to know him better since she and Logan both considered him worth pursuing.
Sam wasn’t sure what was going to happen. They’d left the club agreeing to see Elijah again but not setting a firm date. And after their scorching hot moment at home, Sam was inclined to believe that Logan was right with her in thinking… The sooner the better.
As though summoned by her thoughts, the back door that led to the garage opened and Logan walked in, a huge grin on his face as soon as he laid eyes on Hannah. Since the moment Hannah made her arrival in the world, Logan had been completely smitten with her.
“Wow, this is a wonderful surprise,” he said as he walked over to Sam, leaning in and kissing her on the lips then carefully taking Hannah from her arms. He nuzzled the baby – who looked so tiny in Logan’s big arms – close to his chest, his giant hand cupping the back of her head.
“Hey, Sierra,” Logan greeted, sparing Sierra a quick glance before devoting himself fully to the little chubby baby in his arms.
“Hi.”
“I’ve got a surprise for you, little one,” Logan said as he walked out of the kitchen with Hannah in his arms.
“He bought her some toys the other day when we were out. Yes, he knows she’s too little to appreciate them fully, but he insisted.”
Sierra’s eyes turned soft and Sam knew what was coming.
“Have you two given any more thought to having kids? I mean, I know you’ve said you didn’t want to, but you’re both so good with Hannah.”
Sam smiled. “And just like every other time you’ve asked that,” Sam chuckled, “no, we don’t plan to have kids.”
It wasn’t that they had anything against children because, yes, just like Logan, Sam loved every second she got to spend with her niece, but she truly didn’t want to have any children of her own. With her career in full swing, and Logan’s too, they knew it wasn’t what was best for a child. They were too selfish, and they would be the first to admit it.
“Got it.” Sierra laughed, obviously realizing Sam wasn’t going to change her mind on the subject. They’d had the same discussion before and Sam was pretty sure Sierra hoped she would eventually cross over to the mommy side. She and Logan were still content with where they stood on the subject.
Sam went to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water before returning to the table with Sierra.
“So, tell me something…,” Sierra began, glancing back behind her as though Logan might be standing there. When she turned back to face Sam, she continued, “I heard you were part of a scene with Xander and Mercedes.”
Sam wasn’t quite sure what the question was, so she waited.
“What was it like? Based on what I’ve seen of them, they’re pretty hardcore.”
Sam wasn’t sure what the definition of hardcore was. She knew that Xander had doled out punishment for whatever reason and Mercedes had seemed to enjoy herself. But, aside from that, she hadn’t delved into the reason behind what they did.
“You’ve seen what I’ve seen,” Sam told Sierra. “When we were in the same room together on opening night, it wasn’t quite as intense as when Xander had strapped her to the spanking bench, but the outcome was still the same. Other than that, I really don’t know what to tell you.”
“Ok, so clearly you’ve moved on from the whole BDSM thing.”
Had she? Considering the way she’d felt when Elijah had walked into their playroom the night before, yeah, it did seem like she had once again shifted her priorities elsewhere.
“I’m all for experimenting a little,” Sam said, blushing as she thought back to the swing. “But, truthfully, I’m not sure it’s my thing.”
“But Elijah is your thing?”
Sam couldn’t answer that. She didn’t know how to answer that. At least not yet.
“What’s he like?”
“Who?”
“Oh, come on. Don’t do that. You know who I’m talking about. Elijah.”
“I don’t know him all that well.”
“Yet,” Sierra supplied as though reading Sam’s mind.
“Yet.”
Sierra laughed. “I’ve never known you to be at a loss for words.”
Ok, true.
Sam smiled.
“There’s something about him,” she admitted, unsure what she really wanted to say.
“Well, I think I figured that out on my own,” Sierra replied, leaning back in her chair and pinning Sam with that crystal blue stare.
Sam glanced down at her water bottle and then back up at Sierra. “We didn’t talk long, but I’m hopeful that we’ll get to talk more,” she said quietly.
“Amongst other things?”
Sam laughed. Sierra’s mind was in the gutter more often than Sam’s was. And that was saying something.
Sierra’s features softened as she leaned forward. “Ok, fine. But you’re back to thinking about a third? And he’s your top candidate?”
He was her only candidate. She didn’t say that though.
“I hadn’t given it too much thought,” she lied. In fact, she had been thinking about Elijah more than she thought was appropriate.
Sam knew her desires were a little out of the norm, at least by most standards, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to experience new things. Not that a threesome was new. Not to her or to Logan. And obviously, Logan must’ve thought Elijah was worth pursuing since he’d introduced them. But she still hadn’t had a chance to talk to Logan more. Which she wanted to do before they proceeded.
For over a year, she and Logan hadn’t invited anyone else into their relationship and until recently, she hadn’t met anyone that she wanted to interact with that way. As far as she was concerned, Elijah seemed to be interested. And he seemed interested in something more than temporary, but not quite permanent.
Or maybe that was just her wishful thinking.
As for what that meant exactly, she still wasn’t sure. But if things worked out the way she hoped, she wouldn’t have to worry about a fleeting interlude with someone else.
“What does Logan think of the whole thing?” Sierra asked, interrupting Sam’s thoughts.
“What does Logan think of what whole thing?” Logan asked as he came into the kitchen holding Hannah and an armful of toys.
Sam glanced at Sierra in time to see her friend blush bright red. Sam laughed and saved her by answering Logan’s question. “We were just talking about Elijah.”
Logan nodded, lowering himself into a chair beside Sam, his gaze never leaving hers. Sam could see the heat in his eyes and the promise for a little payback for talking about their extracurricular activities later. Sam knew Logan didn’t really mind that she talked to Sierra, but that didn’t mean he didn’t enjoy punishing her so to speak.
“Speaking of Elijah,” Logan said, “we’re going to have dinner with him tomorrow night. Then we’re going to Devotion.”
A sharp flutter erupted in Sam’s belly and she fought the urge to jump out of her chair. Did that mean…?
She didn’t want to jump to conclusions. They had gone to Devotion a few times since the club opened so that didn’t mean they’d be going with Elijah after they had dinner with him, or just the two of them. She didn’t ask either.
Glancing back at him, she noticed the twinkle in his hazel eyes and another heatwave flashed through her.
A girl could certainly hope.

Logan watched his wife and he appreciated the effort she made to hide her excitement. The thing was, he knew Sam better than that and the way her face lit up told him everything he needed to know.
He’d received a phone call from Elijah an hour ago, inviting them to dinner tomorrow and he had graciously accepted without consulting with Sam first. He knew what her answer would be and the way her face flushed with heat as she sat across from him confirmed it.
Turning his attention back to Hannah, Logan pretended not to notice. “Where’re your daddies at, little one?”
“They had to run over to Club Destiny early this morning,” Sierra explained. “Kane called and wanted to talk about something.”
Logan glanced up at Sierra. “Everything all right?”
“According to Luke, yes,” Sierra grinned. “According to Cole, maybe. They both said it really wasn’t a big deal. Just a minor incident last night, I guess. Kane handled it, but he wanted to talk with Luke and Cole about it.”
Logan nodded. He knew that Kane was quite capable of handling the club now that it had been turned into more of a nightclub than a fetish club. In fact, Kane and Lucie had made some major improvements from what he’d heard and Luke seemed quite happy with the two of them managing the place.
“So how are things going with Devotion? Besides the obvious?” he asked, never taking his eyes off Hannah. She was such a beautiful little girl and she looked so much like Cole it was almost scary. Not that it was a bad thing, but Logan was still surprised sometimes.
“I’m not sure they could be going any better than they are now,” Sierra answered his question before taking a sip of water.
“How’s the new house?”
“Lovely. I was telling Sam the other day that there’s one down the street that’s about to come on the market. I’m thinking we should all be neighbors,” Sierra said with a smirk.
“I’m not sure that the neighborhood could handle Luke and me at the same time,” Logan joked before glancing back at Hannah. “All right, little one. I’ve got a meeting. With a golf course. And if I’m late, Alex and your daddies might have my head.” He refrained from using the curse words that would’ve normally spilled from his mouth because of present company.
“How is he doing? Alex?” Sierra asked, her bright blue gaze fixed on him.
